ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Accreditation
Certified Calibration for Beta LaserMike and Z-Mike/Zygo
To the best of our knowledge, FASI, Inc. is the only company specializing in laser micrometer service that is accredited per ISO/IEC 17025:2005 to perform calibration (FASI is accredited by Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation, Inc.).
Why is this important? Two important reasons: First, non-accredited service providers are not held accountable to the rigorous standards required for ISO certification, so you can never be certain that your calibration is in compliance. Second, you and your auditor are assured that your equipment is calibrated according to ISO requirements.
Per ISO/TS 16949 standards, all laser-based diameter measuring equipment must be calibrated by an ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited resource. As stated in Note 2 of Section 7.6.3.2: “When a qualified laboratory is not available for a given piece of equipment, calibration services may be performed by the equipment manufacturer.” Therefore a non-accredited OEM may only be used in the absence of an accredited laboratory.
